Hatha is a general category that includes most yoga styles. It is an old system that includes the practice of asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) which helps bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. It includes the Yoga postures and breathing techniques directed to purifying the physical body to achieve a healthy body. There is no better health tonic than Yoga asana and the Hatha yoga practice at the Yoga Byrne studio is suitable for all types of bodies.
This style of yoga is a great way to restore both the body and mind. What makes Restorative stand out from your regular practice is that it helps the body restore itself back to normal, back to healthy, back to uninjured. While Restorative yoga focuses on bodies with particular ailments it does assist the body to just simply be and feel nourishment throughout the nervous and hormonal system whereas Yin yoga works deep into the connective tissues to activate change at that deepest level. The Restorative classes are suitable for all students. For those either new to the practice or those just wanting time to simply be.
Is also called ‘flow’ because of the smooth way that the poses run together. It is recognised as one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. In vinyasa yoga each movement is synchronised to a breath. It offers an alternate way to exercise that burns calories to help you lose weight. You move from pose to pose with the breath … and in some vigorous classes you can burn upward of 400 calories. Sweating using traditional cardio and vinyasa yoga can both help you lose weight but Vinyasa will also calm the body and mind.
Students with some experience will love these classes. We have level 1 on Sunday 8.00 am and Wednesday 6.15 pm then a more intensive intermediate level flow for those more practiced on Saturday 8.00am and Monday night 6.15 pm. Our 5.45am early bird classes are also designed for those with at least 6 months yoga experience.
Is a slow-paced style of yoga, with postures (called asana) that are held for longer periods of time—for beginners it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or even longer. Yin yoga activates change at a very deep level to increase performance in an already healthy body. It is a fantastic way to increase or maintain flexibility as it focuses on the areas around the joints. You will immediately notice more open hips, buttery muscles and a major mind detox. In the long run it will lubricate joints, release the fascia of the body, increase flexibility and positively affect your yang (flow etc.,) practice. Our yin class is run by a fully accredited/qualified yin teacher. All levels of students are welcomed to this class

With these 2 hours we get in touch with what yoga is, what yoga is good for, why you would want to practice this ancient form of exercise. We break down the foundation postures of yoga so that you can easily see and feel the joy that this practice may bring to your body and mind.
We get to enjoy a sweet flow yoga. Beneficial for the busy mind on a Sunday night. This class is held with just candles for lighting, soft music and a sweet flow. Available for both the beginner of yoga and the more advanced.
